Why wasn't Daniel Davis "Niles, the butler" in the Nanny reunion?

Fran mentions him several times, like they were expecting him, but they end up with Danny Bonaduce. They never said why he didn't come. I always wondered if maybe he didn't get along with his castmates. Or if he was just plain busy. If anybody has a reliable source, it'd be great.
