Why won't my MotionX GPS app show terrain?

So I got the MotionX GPS app for my iPod touch. I've seen images online of what it looks like on the map, but when I look on my map it's just gray and it says "No Data" with a few places marked on it like Hollywood, The Statue of Liberty, CN Tower, etc. Can someone please tell me what's wrong? And also, I'd like to use it for Geocaching, so if anyone could tell me how to download the coordinates for that onto it, that would be helpful too.
