About oil light, is there anything wrong if a car's oil light is red when the key turns to on ?

When I put the key to my Ford laser 1995 LXi and turned it to on, the oil light was red like seat belts, charge, brake. But when I ignited the engine, the oil light then turned off. I checked the oil level and saw it was still full. Is there anything wrong with my car or that's normal like any other cars?
