Why did his wife do this?

A friend of my husband has a wife that is terminal. This is second marriage and they are going on eleven years. When she divorced from her husband she got money from her divorce settlement and she into both vested it in a bussiness belonging to her and him of 2nd marriage. They both invested money jointly to the bussiness for the past ten years. While he was at work one day she had withdrawn all monies from their joint account and placed it all in a new account with her name only and her biological daughters name. The dying wife has two children. The husband has no access to any of this money that belonged to the both of them. Is this legal since they are both together and married? What can he do? she left both of their money to be divided by three .......her children And the husband. She said she wanted none of his children to have anything.
