Bitting skin off fingers?

K so I don't want to sound like a cannibal but I tend to pick then peal the skin off my fingers. Sometime so bad that I bleed. I do this w/o knowing sometimes and it's really bothering me. What is it and is this a condition that I need to address with my doctor? My fingers look horrible and they are sensitive.
